What is Pilates? 

Is a unique system of mind-body exercise which are beneficial to all fitness levels, from post-rehabilation to the most conditioned athelete.  Pilates dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs.  It builds strength without excess bulk, infact because Pilates combines strenght and flexibility it creates a long, lean toned body.  Pilates teaches body awareness, beginning with posture and breath, combined with controlled graceful movements.  Pilates improves flexibility, agility, strength and Range of Motion from the "core" out. 

Core Training is key for acheiving an optimal level of health and fitness.  Developing a strong core can alleviate back pain, and is very beneficial in preventing back pain.  A strong core means a more balanced body, literally.  Pilates is a safe, effective exercise system using a combination of mat and machine exercises that will help you to look and feel your very best, no matter your age or condition.

Healthy Balance offer Certified Pilates instruction in both mat exercises and Reformer exercises.  The most effective way to develop a Pilates program is by combining mat and Reformer exercises.  The Reformed allows for a greater Range of Motion and more controlled movements.  However, mat exercises are very effective as well, when done properly.
